dear susun,

i just read your story, and was so deeply affected by what you wrote that i just had to email you. although quite different, there are many things that are similar, and i understand how hard you had to fight to get to where you are today. you have been through so very much, and i think many of us out there as well. it is so wonderful to hear a story with a good ending such as yours. you have helped so many people who love the earth as you do, and i thank you for all of the strength and courage that you have had to accomplish all that you have thus far in your life today. many many blessings to you for your continued accomplishments and achievements in the world of natural and herbal healing.

…it is interesting, i have written to you before, about 2 years ago, prior to me finding out how sick i was. you answered me right away, as i wanted to do an apprenticeship under you, and all i needed to do was find a place to live nearby. i was not successful, and so i was then looking for a person to watch my dogs for me, as you had told me your goats would be scared to death of the dogs if i brought them with me. perhaps now you might remember, but it was a while ago. in any case, it was shortly after having to move that second time that i found out how ill i was, and this is why i never got to write back to you. so this is also a letter of thanks for returning my letter last time, as you were so helpful and sincere. it is rare to find someone so real at your level of "power" in the world. but i must say that it is also such a wonderful and refreshing discovery as well. may all the goodness of all the directions be with you always.

thank you deeply for your time and energy,
joan

Dear Susun --

I don't have a question I just wanted to say thank you for this amazing
internet resource. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over
a year now - I am 38 and he is 29 - to no avail. After two months of clomid we followed our intuition and stopped treatment and we are trying to get well and come back into balance holistically and naturally.

A long time ago I began to learn about herbs at the Michigan Women's Music
Festival but I had forgotten everything I knew. Your site reminded me of
some of that knowledge. I have started on red clover tea and am following
many of your suggestions. I just wanted to say thank you.

Dear Susun:

I have been reading your book "New Menopausal Years - The Wise Woman Way" and it has been helping me through some rough times... Thank you :o)

Wendy

Hello, and Greetings!

… I am so happy to say, that I received wisewoman's newsletter the other day, and went on your site to see what Susun had to say about Menopause.
I must say I was beaming with new hope after reading some of the articles and will surely be purchasing her latest book on Menopause. Why I didn't think of Wise Woman sooner, because it has been Susun's books,"Healing Wise," and "W H for the Childbearing Years" that got me through so much, and had the best pregnancy/chldbirth ever!

Thank you,
Marina

Thanks for sending my first Herbal Healing newsletter.

I have found the Wise Woman Herbal Ezine to be a source of valuable knowledge and inspiration. Susun's story is especially inspirational and I appreciate her willingness to so openly share her personal experiences and feelings. I tried the recommended herbal infusions--red clover, nettles, oatstraw, and comfrey--and was surprised with how pleasantly light and refreshing they are. My favorite tea over the years has been a combination of chamomile, peppermint, and foenugreek seed, to which I add citrus juice and honey, and this makes a heavier tea, but also very refreshing. I look forward to more newsletters and further insights and personal growth with the Wise Woman Herbal Ezine.

Hi there,

I'm really looking forward to starting this course.
I've taken a workshop with Susun, many years ago-
Focus on Fertility, and while there conceived our twin
boys- very fertile energy that weekend! I love Susuns
book sand have used them for years, and am looking to
immerse myself in many of our local plants that I
don't pay attention to. I find that over ten years
I've incorporated certain plants into everyday use-
but would like to awaken myself now to the others,
that slipped past! I want to take this course to keep
me conscious of paying attention this summer, and
going deeper....
I'm so looking forward to it!

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to receiving my package! Yay!
warm wishes,
Fiona

Hi
Thanks for all your information on fibroids it has been very helpful to me.

many thanks
Tina

Please include me for receipt of your newsletter. While I have "played" with herbal remedies for decades off and on, I finally am taking a class to learn more about them and engage in the proper preparations, etc. A friend of mine gave me your book, Wise Woman Herbal Healing Wise...I loved it...then about 2 weeks later my herbal teacher gave me a CD with an interview of yours....awesome. Keep up with your love of "weeds" We have all learned much from you.

I read with great interest, the article(s) regarding mamograms....and was pleased to see that there are other women who eschew the radiation of these widely-touted "proactive" screening devices. I've been urged for nearly 20 years to get them, and have never submitted. The last physician was astounded, and I explained that mamograms are indeed x-rays, and that I would never submit myself to x-ray such sensitive tissues. However, I said, I might consider ultrasound....maybe....if I personally felt that such a test would benefit me in the least.

Over the years, I was first excited to see the idea of "women's health" coming of age, and then very disappointed in the end result, which was a huge push by the medical community and all the related corporations that manufacture drugs and diagnostic devices, to scare women half to death about neartly every aspect of their health. What a shame!

Thanx for publishing something that I agree with, and have talked about for years!
Sincerely,
Sister Leslie

Heh-heh. I have to add here, that I went through an early menopause (from 35 to 45), and that the medical establishment did its best to scare me to death about it. Early menopause is supposed to be responsible for early death, early aging, possible cancer, definitely an excuse for an hysterectomy, and hormone replacement therapy, not to mention a diagnosis of bi-polar disorder, and hypothyroidism can result! What?

Okay, I admit that I had hot flashes, but I got used to them. You just put sweaters on, and then take them off when you need to. I had night sweats, and mood swings. I ate lots of soy products and took Blue cohosh, GLA and plenty of Vitamin B complex. I studied green witchery and Ceremonialism. Together. But, I never needed the hysterectomy, or the hormones, or the psychophychotic drugs, and I never got cancer. Here I am, at 58, and the medical world is still trying to scare me to death about being "post menopausal."

Thanks for an article that I agree with! Women do not need to be treated as if they had a disease called "womanhood." (When I was growing up in the 1950's, e.g. women got a disease called "pregnancy." In fact, so terrible was that disease, that no one talked about it in public, and pregnant women dared not show themselves.)

Women, be proud of what you are at every age!
Yours in service,
Sister Leslie

My name is Jay and I have heard some really good things about you and your
books…

Thank you. JAY

Hey Susun!

I am here in Missouri and stayed up late to hear you on Radio Orbit tonight! I have 2 of your books, they were assigned text books for the Clayton College of Natural Health Family Herbalist Certificate Program which is expensive but at least they use good texts!
And now I have been to your website for the first time and I see you have a wonderful correspondence course and much free online learning! You're beautiful! If only I had known before I bought the Clayton thing which I still haven't finished in over 3 years! I DID read your Breast Cancer book and the Child reaering book. . .both excellent!
Anyway, thanks for being on Radio Orbit, I enjoyed your wisdom and humor! I will continue to peruse your awesome website and learn!

Thanks again!
We love you! Lori

I deeply appreciate all that you have shared. Your books are a welcome
relief from the mainstream propaganda that permeates our culture.

Hi Susun,

Just a quick e-mail to you all! I just took a quick look at the mid- month newsletter, for the first time!! How wonderful it is!!!!!! I was home at my parents house, because of a father's illness. I subscribed at the house e-mail up here in Western NY. Hadn't read it before!!! Wow!!!!!! So comprehensive!!! In all good ways!!!!! So informing and positive and nurturing!!!!!

I am also so impressed with the website work!!!!! So absolutely creative!!!!! And the wonderful artwork!!! Everything is just so inspiring and uplifting!!!!!

Its like you are entering this wonderful, magical world... like something you would read about in a wonderful children's book as a child( all of the wonderful graphics of the web-site and the illustrations!!!), but this world is so"grounded, in the best sense", through nature, study of ancient wisdom, heritage and Susn's remarkable gift as a visionary and teacher... there is such a sense of oneness!!! You know, a real common thread!! I'm blown away by it all!! And I just had a chance to look at it a few min. You also have these wonderful links to books by such accomplished authors!!! Really and truly "learned women!!"

Anyhow, thank you again so much for your work!!!! In reading this month's newsletter, I've just discovered the synchronicity of it all, herbs, ancient wisdom, womens health(fibroids)and the great workers on your staff!! So again thank you for your wonderful work!!!!!!

The Very Best of Wishes!!!!!!
Patricia

Dear Susun:

Due to my current family obligations, I have not had an opportunity to join you for a class or experience at your Wise-Woman Center in Woodstock. One day I will. I do, however relish the reading of your newsletter, have purchased and given your books as gifts and applaud your work.

I come from the generation that believe in women as healers and believe in sacred places for women. You keep me connected. I also love the goats. There is expression in their eyes and a semi smile on their lips They seem to say "I know." I very much enjoyed your recent brutally honest biography that you shared about the founding of your current Center.

We traveled through the same era and I winced at many of the emotional twists and turns that you took to arrive at the place that is yours today. I too have known the magic of the Catskill area and it is difficult to describe to someone who does not feel it. I want to thank you Susun for being who you are and doing what you do. I know I will get to study with you one day. You make me proud of the little girl in me who still loves the crunch of the leaves under her feet, the smell of the forest, and the quiet gifts given by the plants that grow all around us.
With Many Thanks - Karen

Dear Susun,

I am interested in taking a correspondence course. I have the books The New
Menopausal Years and Healing Wise. I use Menopsusal Years almost daily.

I am interested in ritual. I use plants exclusively when dealing with health
issues for myself. There are some healing issues that I would like to
explore in a some of my relationships and would like to make some changes. I
would like to deepen my relationship with the environment and plants of my
local area.

I am interested in the The Green Witch and Spirit and Practise of the Wise
Woman Tradition. Not sure which one to take...

Billie
