I have come across your Website and wanted to be connected also on Facebook with you. I have always tried to go the natural way and avoided mainstream medicines for myself and for my family as well. It was not always the easy way out for many things - but I knew that Mother Nature has an herb/natural remedy for all ailments ...

Susun,
I stumbled across your site over this last weeked and I am glad. Reading your site and watching your U-Tube videos with your (way too cute) granddaughter has inspired me to go further into studying plants and all they have to offer. I noticed that you offer classes throughout the year and would like to come next year. This year is pretty booked up for me. I just ordered your book Healing Wise and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Anyways thanks for being you and all that you offer. Hope to meet you in the near future.

Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of information in your books, your website, your videos and your workshops. Three years ago I took a workshop with Motherhouse (www.motherhouse.us) on making Calendula salve. This was a simple workshop but something deep within my soul resonated. Suddenly, I found myself on this journey of learning all that could about medicinal and wild edible plants. I dove in head first and I'm still diving and digging deeper and deeper. I have read and I am still reading many herbalists books but I keep coming back to you and your knowledge. It seems to feel right with me. My love of weeds has grown exponentially and my garden this year has more "weeds" than cultivated veggies. I was so excited to see the Jewel weed blooming this morning! I used to loathe jewel weed as I tried to make my farm look, well, more maintained etc. We used to have help on the farm and now I'm so glad we don't. I do not have to argue or watch the guy mowing the lawn because yes, I wanted those milkweed plants, etc.
When I first started this journey I was explaining my excitement to my mother. She cried. She cried because she said she wished I had known my Great, Great Grandmother who was Cherokee Indian and who used the Wise Women Ways. She passed on her knowledge to my Great Grandmother. My Great Grandmother was a midwife, a medicine woman and wonderful teacher. I knew her when I was small but really, not that well. My Grandmother felt her mother and Grandmother were crazy and didn't want anything to do with learning the Wise Women Ways. She said she was tired of going into the woods to get medicine when she could go to the Drugstore and get what she needed. Sadly, those traditions ended with my Grandmother. My mother remembers harvesting things for her Grandmother when she was small but my Grandmother put a quick end to it. I'm so glad that in my 40's I'm learning something that feels so right to me and it has become a passion of mine. My son, who I unschool, is there learning right along with me. He is also teaching me about his passion, trees!
Thank you Susun for fueling my passion and I hope someday to actually take one of your workshops.
Sincerely, Vicki |
