As a Wise Woman Apprentice, you will learn the ins and outs of herbal medicine, plant identification and medicine making. You will nourish your healing abilities and leadership qualities, and gain valuable skills in working with a variety of people, plants, and problems.



Schedule for Wise Woman Live Out-Apprentices

April 11: Woodland Wonders Hands-on: Meet ramps, coptis, dwarf ginseng, bloodroot, hepatica, and more
April 12: Spring Tonics Hands-on: Make nettle soup and a wild salad; find brassicas, alliums, sweet birch
May 2: Wisdom of the Trees: The Ancient ones gift us medicine from oak, pine, poplar, willow.
May 3: Women's Wisdom: Herbal allies for fertility, menopause, menses, and more
June 6: Great Remedies 1, Hands-on: Identify, harvest, prepare and use the very best herbal remedies
June 7: Your Herbal Garden, Hands-on: Best herbs to grow, best weeds to "cultivate," free herbs for you to plant
July 25: Herbal Pain Relief, Hands-on: Ally with cannabis, skullcap, poppies, St. Joan's wort, arnica, sweet clover
July 26: Great Remedies 2, Hands-on: Yarrow, mullein, mints, mallows, clover, more
August 29: Strong Bones, Strong Muscles, Hands-on: comfrey, calcium, vitamin K, mitochondria
August 30: Herbal Medicine 101, Hands-on: Begin here. Simple, safe, effective remedies from your yard.
September 26: Adaptogens, Hands-on: Live longer, live better, feel great, adopt adaptogens
September 27: Nootropics, Hands-on: Forget supplements; Green allies keep your memory sharp
October 24: Wild Seeds, Hands-on: Harvest and learn to use wild amaranth, lamb's quarter, plantain, other seeds
October 25: To Sleep, Perchance to Dream, Hands-on: Green allies for deep sleep and vivid dreams
November 14: Winterize Yourself, Hands-on: Brown fat, antivirals, boneset, elder, echinacea, sage
November 15: Dig Roots, Hands-on: Dandelion. burdock, chicory, elecampane, poke, and more.

 

Wise Woman Live-Out apprentices receive

Fourteen days of classes with Susun including orientation and graduation weekends
Any 12 classes with Susun plus lodging and meals (lunch and dinner with Susun) for class weekends, graduation weekend, and one or more moonlodges.
Books, including four herbals and a field guide
Materials to make your own medicines and access to plants to harvest
Personal guidance in pursuing your herbal path
Free one-year mentorship access www.wisewomanmentor.com and zoom meetings with Susun twice a month
Instruction in all aspects of herbal medicine: hands-on identification, harvesting, medicine making, plant spirit and shamanic work, and wise usage
Nourishment for body, mind, and soul

Total cost for 12 classes plus 8 nights is $1300 paid in full before the first class or 3 payments of $435 each in April, May, and June. (Extra weekends including all meals at $150)

No Stay (no books) option: 13 classes (lunch is included) for $750, paid in full before the first class.

Extra night stay-over, plus dinner and breakfast, is $75.

Moonlodges are held on the Friday evening before workshops. Women only please.

Lodging choices include the apprentice house (not always available), our beautiful campsites, or a primitive dorm. Men should plan on camping, but indoor space may be available.
Wise Woman apprentices arrive Sat morning between 9:45 and 10AM and leave Sun by 6PM, except on your moonlodge weekend when you arrive Fri at 5PM and leave Sun by 6PM.

To apply: Please send a letter with, your name, address, phone number, email, date of birth and current occupation. Tell me about your experiences with herbs and healing, and what you hope to gain from your apprenticeship. Include a non-refundable $100 application fee. I will call to talk with you. Afterwards, if we are in agreement, I'll send you a letter of acceptance, including travel directions, and list of things to bring. You will receive your books and other materials when you are here.
