A five year old's perspective.....Sept 17, 2001
My daughter Aine and I were walking in the woods today playing a game. She was pretending that there were monsters in the forest and that they were coming to eat us. We had to be vigilant. We had to defend ourselves.I asked her "What is the plan? What are we going to do if we see one of the monsters?" She replied, "Feed them."
"Feed them?" I said. "Yes," she said. "If we feed them they won't want to eat us."
In response to what we can do now. Build a strong cauldron, see our leaders
enlightened, see our path clear for peaceful resolution, see that we must
"let go" to gain, remember the people involved, remember ourselves,
enlighten me so that I might help more, see an atmosphere of what we want
versus what we have, see the energy of the storm as a great phoenix of

I have never seen our world so much in touch with one another. We are all mourning. Everyone is more friendly after this tragedy. I believe the American people, being a just people, want justice for the terrorist acts that took precious, innocent lives in New York and Washington, D.C.
We do not want retaliation, revenge, vengeance or war. None of these will bring peace to the souls that have been lost. None of these will make the world a safer place. None of these will raise America to where she should be: a true leader of free people and a champion of justice.
Retaliation will take other precious, innocent lives. Is a mother or father’s life in Afghanistan any less precious than one in New York?
Seek always justice in all things. We must resist the temptation to twist justice into revenge, retaliation or vengeance. It will only diminish us.
It is time to recreate America in her highest image. How we act in the face of this crisis will determine if America really is a world leader or just a bully. Let us find an outlet for our anger and grief that will make the world a better place for all, not an uglier one. Betsy
To my list members,
At a time like this it is hard to know how to offer comfort. My heart and prayers goes out to victims directly affected by our nations tragedy, and to our nation as a whole and to those who toil in the rubble of the destruction day by day, in hope of finding survivors. I'm proud to live in a country that shows it heart in times of need. Please join me and give to The Red Cross or another charity to help the victim's families.We may find ourselves affected by the horror and feelings that life will never be the same. When you need to find a sense of peace, go to a quite wooded spot and ponder Nature. I did this yesterday and it was comforting. Somehow the birds are still singing, bugs are still crawling, and flowers are still blooming; an affirmation of the continuance and strength of the Life Spirit in our fragile world. Nature is strong and endures her wounds in a constant struggle for survival, I have always found strength in that in times of struggle and questioning.
Plants that are cut down come back twice as strong, and so will the United States of America. We are the Home of the Brave.

Dear friends around the world,
The events of this day cause every thinking person to stop their daily lives, whatever is going on in them, and to ponder deeply the larger questions of life. We search again for not only the meaning of life, but the purpose of our individual and collective experience as we have created it-and we look earnestly for ways in which we might recreate ourselves anew as a human species, so that we will never treat each other this way again.
The hour has come for us to demonstrate at the highest level our most extraordinary thought about Who We Really Are.
There are two possible responses to what has occurred today. The first comes from love, the second from fear.
If we come from fear we may panic and do things-as individuals and as nations-that could only cause further damage. If we come from love we will find refuge and strength, even as we provide it to others.
This is the moment of your ministry. This is the time of teaching. What you teach at this time, through your every word and action right now, will remain as indelible lessons in the hearts and minds of those whose lives you touch, both now, and for years to come.
We will set the course for tomorrow, today. At this hour. In this moment.
Let us seek not to pinpoint blame, but to pinpoint cause.
Unless we take this time to look at the cause of our experience, we will never remove ourselves from the experiences it creates. Instead, we will forever live in fear of retribution from those within the human family who feel aggrieved, and, likewise, seek retribution from them.
To us the reasons are clear. We have not learned the most basic human lessons. We have not remembered the most basic human truths. We have not understood the most basic spiritual wisdom. In short, we have not been listening to God, and because we have not, we watch ourselves do ungodly things.
The message we hear from all sources of truth is clear: We are all one. That is a message the human race has largely ignored. Forgetting this truth is the only cause of hatred and war, and the way to remember is simple: Love, this and every moment.
If we could love even those who have attacked us, and seek to understand why they have done so, what then would be our response? Yet if we meet negativity with negativity, rage with rage, attack with attack, what then will be the outcome?
These are the questions that are placed before the human race today. They are questions that we have failed to answer for thousands of years. Failure to answer them now could eliminate the need to answer them at all.
If we want the beauty of the world that we have co-created to be experienced by our children and our children's children, we will have to become spiritual activists right here, right now, and cause that to happen. We must choose to be at cause in the matter.
So, talk with God today. Ask God for help, for counsel and advice, for insight and for strength and for inner peace and for deep wisdom. Ask God on this day to show us how to show up in the world in a way that will cause the world itself to change. And join all those people around the world who are praying right now, adding your Light to the Light that dispels all fear.
That is the challenge that is placed before every thinking person today. Today the human soul asks the question: What can I do to preserve the beauty and the wonder of our world and to eliminate the anger and hatred-and the disparity that inevitably causes it - in that part of the world which I touch?
Please seek to answer that question today, with all the magnificence that is You.
What can you do TODAY...this very moment?
A central teaching in most spiritual traditions is: What you wish to experience, provide for another.
Look to see, now, what it is you wish to experience-in your own life, and in the world. Then see if there is another for whom you may be the source of that.
If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.
If you wish to know that you are safe, cause another to know that they are safe.
If you wish to better understand seemingly incomprehensible things, help another to better understand.
If you wish to heal your own sadness or anger, seek to heal the sadness or anger of another.
Those others are waiting for you now. They are looking to you for guidance, for help, for courage, for strength, for understanding, and for assurance at this hour. Most of all, they are looking to you for love.
We love you, and we send you our deepest thoughts of peace.

This is what John F. Kennedy called a true "Profile in Courage." Her name is Barbara Lee and she is the Congresswoman from the 9th District in California.
She was the only member of Congress on September 14th to vote against the bill to give Bush carte blanche powers to go to war however he saw fit.
534 members of Congress and Senators voted YES and only one brave woman -- while denouncing the terrorist act and demanding justice for its victims -- refused to run with the lemmings as they headed off to war.

STATEMENT OF REPRESENTATIVE BARBARA LEE (D-CA) IN OPPOSITION TO S.J.RES. 23, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF MILITARY FORCE
I rise today with a heavy heart, one that is filled with sorrow for the families and loved ones who were killed and injured this week. Only the most foolish or the most callous would not understand the grief that has gripped our people and millions across the world.
This unspeakable attack on the United States has forced me to rely on my moral compass, my conscience, and my God for direction.
September 11 changed the world. Our deepest fears now haunt us. Yet I am convinced that military action will not prevent further acts of international terrorism against the United States.
This resolution will pass although we all know that the President can wage a war even without it. However difficult this vote may be, some of us must urge the use of restraint. Our country is in a state of mourning. Some of us must say, let’s step back for a moment and think through the implications of our action today so that it does not spiral out of control.
I have agonized over this vote. But I came to grips with opposing this resolution during the very painful memorial service today. As a member of the clergy so eloquently said, "As we act, let us not become the evil that we deplore."
Dear Friends,
I am deeply saddened by Tuesday’s terrorist attacks against America and its people. The destruction of the World Trade Center in New York and damage to the Pentagon in Washington are serious blows against the US and the global community. The powers of our national spirit are being invoked to meet the challenge of this time. We have been witnessing scenes of heart breaking devastation along with images of compassion, courage and great goodness. I'm awed by the power of human nature to spontaneously do just the right thing in times such as this.
Today, September 14th, was a National Day of Remembrance in honor of the victims of Tuesday’s attacks. This day has been marked by prayer, silence, ringing of bells and candle lightings tonight. There was a prayer service at the National Cathedral at noon today and other services all over the world.
The Balsamic Moon is bringing to light everything that is shadowing our lives personally and together as a nation and world. All the patterns of thought and behavior that are causing us and the world problems are being brought up to be transformed.
The Balsamic Moon brings a special healing opportunity each month. Our deepest needs are apt to be felt at this time. Healing comes through feeling. The more a need is felt these few days (14-16 September), the more invocative energy goes into the beginning of the Moon cycle. Fulfillment comes at the Full Moon in response to what is seeded at the New. We will be guided during the next two weeks as to how we can do the transforming work that is needed and so receive the blessings that are seeded now.
Deep breathing with deep feeling before dawn can help dispel astral shadows and invoke healing.
There are psychic and spiritual dimensions to these terrorist incidents that need to be understood in order for us to deal effectively with their threat. It is unfortunate that there is still so much ignorance of the workings of the astral plane because this is exactly where the spotlight needs to be directed. There are books available from the Theosophical Society and Lucis Trust that can be helpful in understanding this dimension of the psychic world. My now 93 year old Aunt Maude has been my best teacher in this.
The simultaneous hijacking of several commercial airplanes to be used as weapons to destroy both towers of the World Trade Center towers and attack the Pentagon demonstrates an incredible degree of coordination. How could our American intelligence agencies have failed to see this coming? How could our psychics, our spiritual leaders, our angels have failed to alert us to this coming horror?
Those who did this were motivated by a radical anti-American belief based on concepts of fundamentalist Islamic jihad or “holy war.” But this belief system is no more true is Islam than white supremacy is true to Christianity. It is an astral evil with a false cloak of spirituality.
The level of destruction this past Tuesday went beyond what I imagined possible. I had not believed that terrorist groups could exist within this country for an extended time without disintegrating. I was wrong about this and have to reassess the power of this enemy. Yes, this is a war and it is that legendary “war in heaven and on earth.” Our challenge is to handle this as much as possible on the inner planes to prevent further suffering in the outer world.
All people are at times subject to lapses of judgment and most all of us will have emotional reactions occasionally that make us susceptible to negative astral influence. Fortunately there are very few individuals who succumb to astral evil for a prolonged period and become enthralled by it. Those that do can be really dangerous. One such individual was Mohammed Atta, the Egyptian national who flew the first plane into the World Trade Center. A cousin of his piloted the other. Mohammed Atta appears to have been overshadowed by an evil astral power. He exerted hypnotic influence over others in his terrorist cell. I believe it was such psychic influence that kept the terrorists organized and focused on their agenda while living in the US
There are many things we can do on the physical to support the spiritual forces that are helping us win this war against evil. The spontaneous prayer circles and candlelit vigils are a real help. Drum circles can also be tremendously effective. It has recently been discovered in scientific studies that drum circle participation increases the production of “killer cells” that counteract the aids virus. Other healing and transforming effects occur when people join together in a rhythmic beat. The drum beat also serves as a carrier wave for prayers and pure hearted intentions. Group singing and chanting can have a similar effect especially when timed with the canonical hours. Candles lit in these times carry prayers powerfully. The hour just following Sunset is very powerful for healing. Jesus gathered groups to be healed by the waterside at Sunset. Full Moon celebrations at city centers and natural places of power will also do much in future to bring healing and spiritual renewal.
Osama bin Ladan was undoubtedly involved with these terrorist actions and others will be found who were complicit. But the larger issue is the astral dimension. I think we need to think in terms of dismantling the fundamentalist Islamic jihad belief system on the psychic plane. And I believe this is entirely possible. It is important to keep reminding ourselves that this perverse belief system is not really Islam but an evil shade of Islam. The Islamic faith is one of the world’s great religions but like all others it has a shadow side.
The astral shadow of Islam will give way as more energy goes to the soul of Islam. Muslim religious practice therefore needs to be encouraged in the West rather than discouraged or pushed underground. It would be good for all of us to observe Ramadan this year (beginning mid November). And it will be helpful to understand some of the esoteric teachings regarding Islam. We might relish the fact that radical Islamic fundamentalists really despise our sharing the core teachings of the Muslim faith. There are hidden mysteries here that are anathema to them like crosses to vampires. Whenever it is necessary to destroy an outmoded form it is only necessary to draw out the soul of it. I think this is the lesson of young King Arthur’s drawing the sword from the stone. The sword is essential truth, the stone is outworn tradition.
It is clear on the psychic level that the physical attack against this country is over. The chief dangers now are the collective fears that have been stirred and precipitous US military reactions that might result. A worst case scenario is a major conflict in the Mideast This is part of the astral plane agenda we are called to counter. Our prayers and meditations are needed to help ameliorate the present tensions.
A cleansing rain is beginning to cover the eastern United States. Lightning storms over New York are breaking through the astral dark. Helena Blavatsky taught that lightning is an intelligent and beneficent force of Nature called Fohat. Storm systems are also seen as ensouled by devic or angelic powers. Hurricane Gabrielle brings the blessings of Archangel Gabriel, blessings commensurate with the needs of this time. Gabriel is the Angel in Tarot #20, the card of the Last Judgment. Gabriel is blowing his horn calling people to be reborn from the tombs of old ways. Gabrielle will be heading north along the coast after clearing Florida. Send to Gabrielle all you wish to let go. Archangel Gabriel spoke the Koran to the prophet Mohammed. Now Gabrielle comes to clear the shadow of Islam that has been darkening our land.
Let's continue to share perspective and work to dispel unreasonable fears and delusions that might be a danger now. And let’s count our blessings and affirm the wonderful power of the American spirit.

My daughter is this Cub Scout Packs Leader. They felt the pain, fear and confusion of that Tuesday..Sept. 11,2001. They were about to study about the world and on the very page in their book that they were to study on was the Trade Towers...standing tall and erect.
The Next Tuesday, when they met they put together the attached letter. These are their words..they as a group put this together.

We are the Coldspring Bear Cubs of Pack 845. We wanted to reach our community with our words.
We, too, were affected by, the bad things that happened on September 11, 2001. We watched the TV, not sure of what had happened or of what was to come.
Our parents cried, we knew lots of people died and were hurt. We wished we could help in some way. We feel very sad.
On Tuesday, the very day of the plane crashes, we were learning about America and what makes America special to us.
We are proud to be an American and this day has given us much to be grateful for. We have a new appreciation of our freedom, safety and comfort in the country.
We know that we are the future and with that in mind, we must keep moving forward with our heads held high, with courage and pride.
We learn, as Cub Scouts, to serve God and Country. We also learn to obey and to help others. We see how our nation has pulled together to help each other. We are proud of all the work the rescuers are doing. We cannot take back the bad things that happened Tuesday. We can only live for the future; for we are our own future.
We want to give our love and prayers to the families, injured victims, rescue workers and the governing forces, at work in our country today.
We stand united with strength in numbers.
