MOON RITES-
SEA SALT BATH TO REMOVE NEGATIVE ENERGY
by Michelle Royce
Here is one of my favourite rituals, a personal cleansing
which can be performed at the end of each cycle, either
personal or lunar to remove psychic debris and toxins and
clear the way for the future.
(You’ll need to have a lock on the bathroom door
for this one!)
As this ritual takes place in the bathroom obviously it
may not be practical to have too many elements- but I’ll
describe what I do and if you have the time and space to
embellish, then go ahead! This ritual is best done as close
to the end of menstruation as possible. Full Moon Goddesses
(or mother's to be) and Wise Moon Goddesses(or Crones) can
also do this rite, wait until after the full moon, more
towards the dark moon (waning phase.)
You will need:
a white candle (or as many as you like)
Sea Salt (fine grade, not rock salt. Sea salt is sared to
the goddess Aphrodite or Venus.)
Olive oil.
A jug filled with warm rinsing water
The rite- prepare your sacred space if you wish and it
is practicable. Light the candle(s) saying “From the
light, comes the dark... From the dark comes the light.”
Mix a little salt with some of the oil and stand in the
empty bath. Begin to massage the oil/salt paste gently over
your whole body (leave the feet till last so you don’t
slip over!) While you massage, repeat the following-
“The end is the beginning.
All the outdated beliefs,
old hurts and little deaths of the past month, I now cleanse
away.
All the disappointments, stale ideas, unfinished business
and unfulfilled dreams,
I cleanse and purify.
I am renewed.
The way is now made clear for fresh beginnings.
By the power of the Living Goddess
I give thanks for the lessons of the past
And clear the way for the lessons of the future.”
Rinse yourself down with the warm water.(As many times
as you like) Watch the water go down the drain, taking your
negative energy with it.
Run a warm bath to which you add another handful of sea
salt (more purification!) you may like to add a few drops
of an essential oil such as lavendar (but be careful if
you're pregnant- check first to ensure it' safe) and soak
for a while in this atmosphere, visualizing what you would
like to do during the coming month, or just enjoying the
peace. Hey, I know it’s a tough ritual, but someone’s
got to do it!
