WILDNESS OF THE FEMALE
SPIRIT
by Sophia Breillat ©
There is an inherent wildness
in woman that cannot be contained
or controlled. Her deepest pain
is her separation from this essential
essence, where man rarely reaches
her. Her sweetest joy is when
she is simply being, resting peacefully
within. Here, she is united with
the seasons’ awakening,
earth’s nourishment and
moon’s phases.
Woman’s innate feminine
intuition cannot flow spontaneously
when masqueraded beneath a cloak
of time, schedules, briefcases,
business suits and corporate board
meetings. Such efficiency is alien
to her mysterious depth, which
is beyond the world of existence.
This world does not create space
for her.
When lured from her profundity
into a male-dominated civilisation,
she loses touch with the simplicity
of her true magnificence. In the
outer world, she is manipulated
into being man’s “equal”
through competitive achievement.
When content within her being,
she has no need for such competition,
as she knows it is not her true
nature. In striving for “equality”
with man, she leaves the power
and stillness of her love. The
feminine spirit is nurturing,
receptive, gentle and peaceful,
embodying a. Through projection,
woman loses touch with her body
as a divine source of sacred intimacy
and passionate profundity. When
inwardly still, she can be in
the world without using work as
a substitute for love or a distraction
from lack of love.
Woman’s rhythm is circular,
attuned with the wisdom of nature’s
abundant cycles. The world of
straight lines, concrete, measuring
and quantifying is unfamiliar
with her truth, which is love.
She does her best within an un-giving
environment of computerised technology,
political unrest and global upheaval.
She intuitively knows, but she
is afraid to know, for her inner
realm is not naturally aligned
with the world. Her knowledge
is that of love, and love is her
home. Through the world’s
dishonouring of her sacredness,
she has lost her tenderness and
sweet surrender. Sexual hardness
then replaces her natural sensuality.
In building a layer of protection
around her heart, like the concrete
layers upon the earth, she has
forgotten that her body is a temple.
Woman is not of the world ~ she
is of the earth, moon and stars.
Her female spirit is capricious,
moist, rich and succulent. When
this spirit is repressed, she
becomes dry, brittle, intellectual
and barren.
RHYTHM OF THE EARTH
Woman’s exquisite feminine
consciousness is like the earth
~ soft, rounded, wild and wise.
Centred within a spiral, she ebbs
and flows with stars, planets
and oceans. Like the wildest tempest,
her passion is uncontained and
uncontrollable, and like the surging
river, her love runs still and
deep. She, the earth spirit, is
the glowing rotundity of the full
moon, sparkling water of the cascading
waterfall and curling tendrils
of rainforest vines. There is
a mysterious bond between woman
and the earth, for woman and the
earth are one.
Her wildness has no movement
or projection, being as still
as the centre of a cyclone. When
seen, she loves open-heartedly,
giving with impersonal joy and
intimacy that knows no boundaries.
Woman is a Goddess ~ not the New
Age’s idea of Goddess, but
an ancient timeless sanctuary
of profound wisdom without personality.
Whenever her love is corrupted
by the world’s distorted
reflection, she experiences psychic
disturbance.
LUNAR GODDESS
Like the divine interplay between
sunshine, plants, rocks and breeze
woman cannot truly be, without
the moon’s reflection. Menstruating,
ovulating, making love and giving
birth with lunar phases, she knows
this essence within her womb as
ancient and primordial.
Early cultures acknowledged
the moon’s powerful affinity
with woman’s consciousness.
The exquisite presence of this
Lunar Goddess profoundly affects
the ocean’s tidal flow,
underground streams, weather patterns,
body fluids, lovemaking, conception,
pregnancy and menopause. Her brightest
nights of golden radiance and
darkest evenings of deep silence
harmonise perfectly with woman’s
menstrual cycle.
Woman’s lunar harmony
is fluid and free, influencing
her inner psyche and outer life
from a source of intuitive knowing
deep within her being. Western
society, with its forceful goal-oriented
momentum, does not honour or support
her monthly rhythm. Her inner
knowing cannot be rationally explained,
for the profound vastness of her
womb-consciousness is beyond physical
form. When truly loved sexually,
she gives and receives everything
in this formless place. In ancient
civilisations, woman was adored
as She, All-Giver, Goddess of
earth, sea and sky. She cannot
give all unless she is seen and
loved as she really is. As a man
opens in love to her feminine
presence, he also begins to find
his natural place upon the earth.
Through loving her as the impersonal
Goddess of creation, he unites
with his own creative power. If
he attempts to tame and control
her, through fear and misplaced
authority, her joy and wildness
become stifled. They both then
experience discontent through
suppression of her mysterious
fragrance. The feminine psyche
is not for structured limitations
~ it is a gracious haven created
for love.
The female body knows what love
is, how to menstruate, make love
and give birth. Woman no longer
trusts its harmonious vibration,
for the world’s hardness
and complications have filled
her with doubt and confusion.
Seduced by an illusory existence,
she absorbs so much maleness that
she thinks force and projection
are her power. Woman’s power
is not for building empires and
being successful ~ it is for resting
sweetly in the softness and profundity
of love. Her strength is a gentle
strength, birthed within deep
stillness. When united with her
intrinsic nature, she is nothing.
Civilisation, unable to bear this
nothingness, has manipulated her
into believing that she is something.
FEMALE ESSENCE
Taught by the media that beauty
is dependent upon make-up, facelifts
and glossy magazine advertisements,
woman forgets the innocent inner
beauty of her love. This is not
the world’s idea of love,
but a glowing radiance emanating
from within. When her divine essence
flows, her life simplifies, enabling
her to truly live uniquely in
the world.
Enticed from her sacred knowledge,
woman doubts her perceptions,
swayed by the world’s contaminated
love instead of surrendering to
her softness and openness. Remaining
forever thirsty, she is then unable
to drink from the wellspring of
her wildness, power and wisdom.
This separation from her feminine
essence creates physical and emotional
aberrations, including allergies,
addictions, pre-menstrual tension,
post-natal depression, eating
disorders and menopausal symptoms.
Woman’s wildness is a presence,
not a force. She cannot claim
it or own it, as taught by “feminists”
or personal development workshops.
Female essence flows without
movement and shines without projection,
with the ability to touch a man’s
heart until he melts. He will
never understand her, yet cannot
live a fulfilling life of truth
without her love. Her lunar magic
is always beckoning him, reflecting
his love with pristine clarity.
Often too immersed in his busy
world, he fails to heed this haunting
call of deep silence. He starves,
whilst unaware that his deepest
nourishment is through loving
this irrational creature who seems
to torment him with her erratic
ways and whimsical unpredictability.
The fluidity of the feminine
body and psyche embodies all that
is luscious and sensual. Her attachment
to outer existence prevents her
from being grounded in her body
and grounded upon the earth. Woman
is the moon, and the earth is
woman ~ one cannot become damaged
without harming the others. The
earth’s pollution is only
a symbol of the polluted purity
of woman’s love. When a
man opens to the lunar essence
in his partner, he opens to the
shining one, his divine inner
lover.
This celestial Queen represents
all that man adores and fears
in woman. Her timeless essence
draws him like a moth to a flame,
promising to fulfil his every
need whilst threatening to destroy
his habitual structures and wilful
independence. Every woman has
the capacity to live as the Lunar
Goddess, for deep within, she
already is this wild power. Only
through the flowering of her mysterious
fragrance, can man and woman become
whole.
