Edie Pijpers is a self-taught painter from The Netherlands living and working in NYC. From Edie's work emanates a certain warmth and happiness, the shapes are often simplistic and the paintings have a lyrical quality. Her work has been quoted as naive, folk-ish, impressionist. Edie's influences range from the cities she has lived in to everyday life to more ethereal inspirations like music and dreams. Some famous artists that she admires are Chagall, Karel Appel, van Gogh, J.W. Waterhouse, Dali, Klimt among many more. Now living and working in New York City, Edie devotes most of her time to painting and experiments with styles and mediums. Stylistically she has been experimenting with more naive, childlike paintings as well as portaits.
